Frequently Asked Questions
Who is CrossFit good for?
Everyone can do CrossFit regardless of age, injuries, or current fitness level. The program can be modified for each athlete to help them become fitter and healthier. Grandparents and Olympians and everyone in between can perform modified versions of the same workout.
Do I need to be in shape to start CrossFit?
No. CrossFit is the fitness and nutrition program that will get you in shape. No matter what your current fitness level is, you can start CrossFit. You can start CrossFit if you've never worked out, if you have injuries, or if you're sick or overweight. CrossFit workouts are modified to help each person succeed, improve fitness, and take daily steps toward goals. As you become fitter, you workouts will be adjusted to challenge you at your new level.
What about nutrition?
To accomplish your goals faster, we recommend you eat a variety of healthy food in quantities that support fitness training, but not body fat. By avoiding excessive amounts of refined carbohydrates (sugar) and measuring you protein, carbohydrate, and fat intake, you will see measurable increases in health. Here's a simple starting point: Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no added sugar.
What is a WOD?
It is the predetermined Workout of the Day. Some other abbreviations used at Branded One CrossFit are AMRAP: AS MANY REPS AS POSSIBLE, EMOM: EVERY MINUTE, ON THE MINUTE, RX: AS PRESCRIBED, PR: PERSONAL RECORD
It's CrossFit safe?
Yes. CrossFit training is very safe, and sitting on your coach is dangerous. We have credentialed trainers that provide precise instructions and coaching to help people move safely and efficiently, helping them avoid all the diseases and injuries that come from inactivity, obesity, and poor nutrition.
Can I try a fitness class before I sign up?
Yes. We are located in Las Vegas, but for Nevada locals, your first workout is always free.
What makes Branded One unique?
Branded One is one of about 10,000 CrossFit affiliates in the world. It is only one of a few that is a nonprofit, and it is the first nonprofit CrossFit gym in Nevada that isn’t affiliated with a military base or school. Refraining from functional movement is what causes mental and physical deficits and Branded One wants to make sure every disabled hero does not fall victim to deficits. We have a community where people can depend on each other and show support.
What does a CrossFit gym offer that a regular gym doesn't?
At Branded One, we offer small group training classes where each workout is predetermined and personalized for you and your ability. A coach will help keep you safe and instruct you on how to perform each movement. Community, Accountability, Care & Trust = Results.
What if I can't do the recommended weight?
You will use a weight that’s manageable for you or use a percentage of the weight prescribed and replace movements you can’t do with those you can. Our qualified and experienced coaches will help with all of this, so don’t worry about figuring any of this out.
